![]() Thirty-three ACC Athletes Earn All-America Status at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships March 19, 2008 GREENSBORO, N.C. - A total of 33 Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes have been named 2008 Indoor Track and Field All-Americans, as was announced this week by the USTFCCCA. On the men's side, 17 were named All-Americans in 10 events, while a total of 16 student-athletes from nine different schools were chosen on the women's side. For the men, national runner-up Florida State led all ACC schools with nine total All-America selections. Among those honored for the Seminoles were individual national champions Drew Brunson and Gonzalo Barroilhet, as well as two-sport star Michael Ray Garvin, who earned All-America status in both the 60- and 200-meter dash. Clemson, which finished third among the men at the 2008 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships, had three athletes honored, while Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Miami, NC State and Virginia Tech each had one. The Tigers' Travis Padgett and C.J. Spiller were each named All-America for their performances in the 60-meter dash, while Georgia Tech's James Lemons was recognized in both the long jump and the triple jump events. On the women's side, Virginia Tech topped all ACC institutions with four honorees. The Hokies' Kristi Castlin and Queen Harrison, who finished second and third, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles, along with Brittany Pryor and Kristen Callan were chosen for their outstanding performances at this year's national meet. Florida State, which finished sixth in the women's standings, placed three athletes on the All-America list, including individual champions Susan Kuijken and Hannah England. Georgia Tech and North Carolina had two selections, while Boston College, Clemson, Duke and Virginia had one each. Miami's Krista Simkins, who earned the individual title with a national-best time in the 400-meter dash, gives the Hurricanes one All-America selection to round out the list.
