Cavaliers Rally to Defeat Old Dominion 80-76

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -Sean Singletary scored six points in the waning seconds to give Virginia an 80-76 victory over Old Dominion in the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational on Monday. A 3-pointer by Singletary with 23 seconds left tied the score at 75-75. Singletary then hit a layup and hit a free throw after a steal with four seconds left to give Virginia the lead for good at 78-75.

Old Dominion (18-16) had a chance to come back with three seconds left after Jonathan Adams made a free throw to cut Virginia's lead to 78-76. But Adams turned the ball over and Ben Finney fouled Virginia's Calvin Baker. Baker hit two free throws to seal the win.

Singletary finished with 22 points and 10 assists. Mamadi Diane had 14 points for Virginia and Jamil Tucker scored 11.

Virginia (17-15) will face the winner of Monday night's game between Valparaiso and Houston in the semifinals. Virginia will host a semifinal game Wednesday night at 7 pm at John Paul Jones Arena against Bradley.
