Wake Forest Posts 4-3 Victory Over Blue Devils

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - It was another thriller at Leighton Stadium on Wednesday afternoon, but the No. 30 Wake Forest men's tennis team successfully defended its near spotless home record with a 4-3 win over No. 40 Duke. With the victory, the Demon Deacons improved to 13-6 for the year, 4-1 in the ACC and 11-1 in home matches.

The match was determined at No. 6 singles, where sophomore Andrew Brasseaux raced out to a 6-1 first set win. Brasseaux and Duke competitor Jared Pinsky then exchanged games in the second set until Pinsky broke serve to tie the contest at 5-5 and then took a 6-5 lead. Brasseaux fought back to challenge Pinsky in a tiebreaker, and a double fault by the serving Blue Devil pushed Wake into the 4-3 win.

With the loss in Winston-Salem, Duke now sits at 5-9 and 2-2 in conference competition.

The Blue Devils held the first advantage in the win, taking the doubles point 2-1. Cory Parr and Steve Forman grabbed the only WFU win in the opening session, defeating David Goulet and Christopher Price 9-7.
