Boston College Overpowers Connecticut. 18-8, for Fourth Win

WESTWOOD, Mass. - Boston College tallied its fourth win of the season in a 18-8 victory over Connecticut on Wednesday evening. Junior Lauren Fitzpatrick and sophomore Lauren Costello recorded four goals each, while freshmen Jill Rekart scored her first collegiate hat trick. The Eagles improved to 4-7 (2-2 ACC) while the Huskies dropped to 1-12 (0-4 Big East).

Sophomore Sarah Sedgwick added two goals of her own to the box score, while senior Shauna Culhane, juniors Maura Mahoney, Jenna McCabe and Rachel Tinquist and sophomore Peyton Killeen scored one goal. McCabe and Fitzpatrick extended their scoring streaks to 11 games, as they have notched at least one point in every game this season.

The Eagles took an early lead as they scored the first four goals of the game before five minutes had ticked off the clock. The Huskies fired back, scoring three consecutive goals to bring them within one with 16:38 to play. It would be the closest they would come to BC.

Hokies Pick Up First Road Win, Defeat Lancers 22-12

FARMVILLE, Va. - The Hokies defeated Longwood, 22-12, on Wednesday afternoon in Farmville, Va. Ten different Hokies found the back of the net, led by junior Rachel Culp, who led the team with six goals. Allie Emala, Kate Tracey and Kady McBrearty each had a hat trick.

Tracey set the pace for the game, scoring within the first 30 seconds of the match. With 22: 48 left in the half, the score was tied at two goals apiece, marking the only tie of the game.

Culp's goal two minutes later began a four-goal scoring streak for the Hokies within the next seven minutes. Longwood's Cara O'Brien broke the streak with 11:34 left in the half to bring the score to 6-3.

With 10:39 left in the half, freshman Mary-Kate Larkin scored her first career goal for the Hokies. Fellow freshman Theresa Sweeney also began her scoring career at Tech by finding the net with just 10 seconds left in the second half.


Hoyas Shock Cavaliers in Final Seconds

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Megan Bloomer's goal with 27.9 seconds remaining for the No. 6 Georgetown women's lacrosse team proved to be the difference in a back-and-forth battle, as the Hoyas upset the fourth-ranked Cavaliers, 8-7, on Wednesday afternoon at Multi-Sport Field.

Junior Blair Weymouth led the Cavaliers in their final regular season road contest, notching four goals. Junior Ashley McCulloch had two points on a goal and an assist, while sophomore Kaitlin Duff and junior Jenny Hauser each had a goal. Senior Kaitlin Swagart finished with an assist.

Defensively, senior Kendall McBrearty came up with nine saves and two ground balls. Duff and senior Claire Bordley scooped up three ground balls each, and sophomore Brittany Kalkstein won two draw controls and caused three turnovers.
