Garden City, N.Y. - Freshman Richard Byrd (Central Islip, N.Y.) and Danielle Lyons (South Glastonbury, CT) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of The Week for the week of January 21, 2008.

Byrd averaged 15 points and 4.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Panthers. In just 16 minutes against Dowling he picked up 13 points and five rebounds. Byrd added 17 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and a block in a 67-60 win at Bridgeport. For his efforts, Byrd was named ECC Rookie of The Week.

Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, January23 when they travel to Brookville, New York for a 7:30 pm meeting with C.W. Post.

Lyons competed at the Gotham Cup on January 18 running the championship section of the 800 meter run. She won her heat and placed seventh overall in a school record of 2:19.89. For her efforts Lyons was named ECAC Division II Track Athlete of The Week.

Adelphi returns to action on Friday, January 25 when they travel to THe New Balance Track and Field Center in New York, New York to take part in the Great Dane Classic.
