New York, N.Y. - The Adelphi University track and field team traveled to the New Balance Track and Field Center in New York, New York to compete in the NYU Fastrack Invitational on Friday, February 29. The Panthers turned in several strong performances, led by Danielle Lyons' school record in the 800-meter run. Lyons placed fourth overall and was the second collegiate finisher in the 800-meter run, crossing the line in a time of 2:15.85, well under the NCAA provosional mark of 2:18.30. Ify Anene also turned in a strong performance placing fifth in the 5000-meter run in a time of 18:24.80, while Danielle Connors ran a personal best of 19:08.30 to pick up 10th. Mark Pollard had a solid day for the men, placing 18th in the 60-meter dash (7.12) and 11th in the invitational 200-meter dash (22.32). Aaron Warner also did well, setting a new school record in the 800-meter run when he crossed the line in 1:56.25 (14th), while Obed Bienne was a step behind in 1:56.38 (15th). Ryan Pezzulo set a new collegiate best in the mile, placing 22nd overall, stopping the clock at 4:22.87. In addition Pezzulo was on the 4x800 meter relay team, which set a new school record, as Warner, Bienne and Sean Harte combined with Pezzulo to place 7th in 8:00.06. Adelphi will wrap up the indoor season on March 8 and 9 at the IC4A/ECAC Championship meet in Boston, Massachusetts at the Reggie Lewis Center. Adelphi Finishers Men |
