Dispensa, Malenovsky and Troutman Named Division II Cross-Country All-Academic Honoree

Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University senior Matt Dispensa (College Point, N.Y.), along with graduate student Jen Malenovsky (Patchogue, N.Y.) and sophomore Heather Troutman were named a Division II Cross-Country All-Academic selection as announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This is the second selection for Dispensa, and the first for both Malenovsky and Troutman.

Dispensa earned a 3.587 grade point average (GPA) in addition to placing second at the East Coast Conference (ECC) Cross-Country Championships, earning first-team all-conference honors and helping Adelphi to a second place finish. Dispensa also placed 20th overall at the Division II Northeast Regional, pushing the Panthers to a sixth place finish.

Malenovsky earned second-team All-ECC honors, placing eighth at the ECC Cross-Country Championship meet, helping Adelphi to their second consecutive conference crown. She also placed 16th at the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional, missing out on all-conference honors by one spot and pulled the Panthers to a fourth place finish, while boasting a GPA of 4.0.

Troutman recorded a GPA of 3.44, while placing 13th at the ECC Championship meet and capturing second-team All-ECC honors for the second year in a row. At the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Troutman was Adelphi's fourth runner across the line, placing 36th overall.

All-in-all there was 202 female student-athletes and 127 male student-athletes honored as All-Academic selections and Dispensa, Malenovsky and Troutman are the only representatives from the ECC.

To qualifying for Division II All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 (on 4.0 scale) and finish in the top 30 percent at the regional cross-country championships.
