Augusta, GA - The Adelphi baseball team continued the 2008 season with a double header against Augusta State. The Panthers were blanked in the first game, falling 8-0, and held a 4-3 lead three and a half innings into game two before losing, 7-4. The losses drop Adelphi to 0-3 overall, while Augusta State improves to 11-9. Game one McLasky was credited with the loss after throwing four innings, allowing five runs and striking out five. Chris Weidlein was the only Panther to pick up multiple hits, going 2-3. Game Two The Panthers knotted the game at three in the third. With one out Weidlein singled, scoring Matthew Kenney. Boelsen followed that up with a single, scoring Mike Testani. A Testani two out single in the fourth gave Adelphi their first lead of the game, 4-3 when Mike Mongiello crossed the plate. However Augusta State would knot the game at four in the bottom of the fourth and then tack on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth before claiming a 7-4 win. Mike Scudero was credited with the loss, pitching 4.1 innings, giving up six runs, three earned and striking out two. Boelsen was strong at the plate, going 3-4 with two RBI, while Testani was 2-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Adelphi returns to action on Sunday, March 2 when they close out a four game set with Augusta State. |
