Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University men's basketball player Richard Byrd (Central Islip, N.Y.) has been named East Coast Conference (ECC) Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday, January 28. This is the second time this season that Byrd has been honored by the conference.

In a 1-1 week, Byrd averaged 10.5 points, four rebounds and two steals for the Panthers. Byrd posted 12 points, five rebounds and three steals in a loss to C.W. Post and scored nine points and had three rebounds in a 57-52 win over Molloy.

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, January 30 when they host NYIT at 7:30 pm.
