Byrd Named East Coast Conference Rookie of The Week

Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University men's basketball player Richard Byrd (Central Islip, N.Y.) has been named East Coast Conference (ECC) Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday, February 18. This is the fourth time this season that Byrd has been honored by the conference.

Byrd averaged 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals, shooting 51.7-percent from the field in helping Adelphi to a 1-1 week. He had 18 points (5-8 fg) and eight rebounds in a 66-50 win over New Haven and added a game-high 23 points with eight rebounds in a loss to Mercy.

Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, February 20 when they travel to Flushing, New York for a 7:30 pm meeting with Queens.
