Byrd Earns ECC Rookie of The Week Honors

Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University men's basketball player Richard Byrd (Central Islip, N.Y.) has been named East Coast Conference (ECC) Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday, February 25. This is the fifth time this season that Byrd has been honored by the conference.

Byrd Averaged 21 points (14-27 fg, 6-13 3pt, 8-8 ft), nine rebounds and three assists per game in a 2-0 week for the Panthers. He erupted for 26 points (9-14 fg, 4-8 3pt), seven rebounds and four assists at Queens and added a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds in a win at Dowling.

Adelphi returns to action on Wednesday, February 27 against the University of Bridgeport at 7:30 pm in Woodruff Hall.
