Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's basketball team has been named the seventh best program in Division II by CBSAguide.com. Each school in Division II was ranked based on their win-loss record over the last eight years, among other criteria.

The other two criteria used by CBSAguide.com were that the program must have a .650 or better winning average record over the last eight years and must have had the same head coach for the previous four years.

Over the last eight years The Panthers posted an overall record of 186-58, with a winning percentage of 76 percent. In seven of those eight seasons Adelphi made trips to the NCAA tournaments, including capturing NCAA Northeast Regional titles under Jim Ferry in 2000-01 and 2001-02.

James Cosgrove has guided the Panthers to a record of 117-32 over the past five seasons, securing NCAA berths four times. Cosgrove also earned ECC Coach of the Year honors in 2004-05 and was named MET Writers Association Division II Coach of the Year.
