Game One|Game Two

Aiken, S.C. - Sophomore Katie Brophy went 3-for-4 for Adelphi University in game two, while collecting two RBI in game one of a doubleheader sweep of South Carolina-Aiken, 4-0 and 4-2, on Friday afternoon at J.H. Satcher Field. The Panthers improve to 3-8 on the season, while the Pacers fall to 14-19.

Game One
The Panthers broke a scoreless tie in the seventh inning as junior Samantha Johnston drove in junior Diana DiPiano for the game-winning run. Senior Dely Francisco, who was 3-for-4 in the game, singled to load the bases. Brophy's double to left field drove in Johnston and pinch runner Allison Rice to make it a 3-0 lead. Junior Jessica Vogt singled to center field to bring home Francisco for the 4-0 victory.

Senior Julie Schaper recorded the win, giving up just two hits, while walking one and striking out six.

Adelphi had four runs on eight hits with no errors. USC-Aiken had no runs on two hits with one error.

Game Two
Adelphi's strong bats continued in game two as they rattled off three runs on four hits in the first inning. With the bases loaded, DiPiano reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Brophy. Martin's single drove in unearned runs for DiPiano and pinch runner Bailey Lawrence.

The Pacers got on board in the second inning on a two-run single to close the gap, 3-2. After three scoreless innings for both teams, Adelphi mounted a rally to tag on insurance runs in the sixth. Johnston scored the final run on a fielder's choice groundout by Christina O'Hara.

Freshman Leighann Bell threw for 4.1 innings to record the win, allowing six hits for two runs, two earned, and striking out three. Senior Samantha Tilton picked up the save, fanning five in 2.2 innings.

Adelphi had four runs on 10 hits with one error. USC-Aiken had two runs on eight hits with two errors.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, March 15, in the Eastern Carolina Softball Classic in Florence, South Carolina. They take on Francis Marion at 9:00 a.m. in the first of three single games.
