Brookville, N.Y. - The Adelphi University softball team fell in game one, 4-0, but rallied to a 4-2 win in game two against C.W. Post this afternoon. The Panthers move to 12-6 overall and 2-2 in the ECC, while the Pioneers are now 12-7 and 1-1. Game Two Adelphi scored a single run in the first inning when Schaper doubled to right field to score sophomore Diana DiPiano from third. The Panthers added another run in the fifth when sophomore Kristin Brennan was able to beat the throw to first while junior Dely Francisco reached home from second. The Panthers added two more runs in the second when Francisco led off the inning and singled to the catcher. Francisco stole second on the next play and was waved around to score after a throwing error by Yodowitz, which also allowed sophomore Samantha Johnston to reach first base. Johnston later came around to score when Schaper ripped a single up the middle. Down 4-0 in the seventh, the Pioneers attempted to come back when junior Holly Eringis came in to pinch hit for Medina and lined a one-out two-run home run out to right field, scoring Correia from first. But the rally fell short when Hippo flied out to left field and Christie Softy popped up to the shortstop to end the game. Robinson allowed two earned runs on seven hits while striking out four to earn her fifth win of the season. Yodowitz was credited with two earned runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Adelphi had four runs on 10 hits with two errors. C.W. Post had two runs on seven hits with two errors. Today's win over C.W. Post marked the first for Adelphi in the last 12 meetings dating back to May 5, 2002, when the Panthers split with the Pioneers, taking game one 7-2 before falling, 6-2.
