Game One|Game Two

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University softball team handed C.W. Post its first conference loss of the season, as they split 2-1, 1-3, this afternoon at Janet L. Ficke Field. The Panthers are now 18-14 on the season and 8-2 in the ECC, while the Pioneers move to 20-11 and 7-1.

Game One
After a quiet start, the Pioneers used an Adelphi error to get a runner on base. Megan Correia singled to drive in the unearned run and give C.W. Post a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. The Panthers struck back in the sixth inning as senior Julie Schaper tripled followed by senior Dely Francisco who reached on a fielder's choice then stole second. Junior Samantha Johnston singled to drive in both runs and put Adelphi up for good.

Schaper (10-2) picked up her tenth win of the season in the two-hitter. She walked two and struckout 13.

Adelphi had two runs on two hits with three errors. C.W. Post had one run on two hits with one error.

Game Two
C.W. Post jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half, again taking advantage of an Adelphi error. Christie Softy connected for a two RBI double, then accounted for the final run, 3-0.

In the third inning, Francisco scored on a RBI single by junior Kristin Brennan but the Panthers were unable to close the gap.

Christine Robinson (2-4) gave up eight hits, three runs, no earned with four walks and three strikeouts. C.W. Post had three runs on eight hits with one error. Adelphi had one run on five hits with one error.
