Garden City, N.Y. - Sophomore Diana DiPiano was 4-for-7 with two homeruns, two RBI and two runs scored to lead the Adelphi University softball team to a 3-1, 9-1 conference sweep of Concordia College this afternoon at Janet L. Ficke Field. The Panthers, who jumped from #25 to #19 in the latest NFCA poll, improve to 32-8 on the season and 18-2 in the ECC. The Clippers drop to 11-15 and 7-11. Game One Schaper pitched the three-hitter, allowing one run, one earned, while striking out 11 and walking one. Adelphi had three runs on eight hits with no errors. Concordia had one run on three hits with no errors. Game Two DiPiano rounded the bases for the second time in the fourth to put the Panthers up, 4-1. Johnston belted a two-run effort in the fifth to make it 6-1. daSilva, who was 3-of-4 in the game, doubled in the seventh to drive in the final two runs. Junior Samantha Tilton gave up just four hits on the mound for one run, one earned, while striking out six. Adelphi had nine runs on 14 hits with no errors. Concordia had one run on four hits with 1 error. The Panthers return to action tomorrow, hosting Dominican College at 3:30 p.m. |
