May 2, 2007 Garden City, N.Y. - The #8 ranked Adelphi University softball team (37-9, 18-2 ECC) clinched its first regular season East Coast Conference title since 2000 and are ranked No.1 going into the tournament slated to begin this Friday. Adelphi is vying for its first tournament championship since 1997. The Panthers jumped from #19 to #8 in the latest NFCA Coaches Poll, their highest DII ranking to date. They have already set new school records for most DII wins in a season and longest DII winning streak. Their 18-2 conference record is the best since joining the East Coast Conference in 1995. As the top seed, the Panthers receive a first-round bye and will take on the winner of the #5 Queens/#4 NYIT match up at on Friday, May 4, at 4:00 p.m. on the campus of C.W. Post. The winner will advance to winner's bracket on Saturday, May 5, at 12 noon. The loser's bracket will play at at 10:00 a.m. Both games will be played at C.W. Post. Adelph is also the site of the ECC Tournament, hosting games on Friday and Saturday. All games will complete at C.W. Post on Sunday, May 6. Click here for a complete bracket. All games hosted by C.W.
