Softball Inks Five for 2008

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University softball team has signed five players for the 2008 season as announced by Head Coach Joe Burbridge. The group includes three pitchers, a catcher and an outfielder.

Burbridge has added two right-handed pitchers in Deirdre White of East Islip High School and Marissa Romeo from Passaic Valley High School. Left handed pitcher Leighann Bell, also from East Islip High School, rounds out the new pitching staff.

Catcher Catilyn Seamster (Edison, N.J), a product of JP Stevens High School and South Glastonbury High School outfielder Danielle Lyons (South Glastonbury, CT) will add depth to the Panther bench.

"I am very excited about the potential of these student-athletes. Some will have an immediate impact on the team while others will be a large part of our future," Burbridge said. "All of them will afffect us positively in the classroom, as they are all tremendous students."

The Panthers are slated to kick off their 2007 season March 9-17 at the Rebel Games in Florida.
