Feb. 16, 2008 ALLENDALE, Mich. - The men's and women's track and field squads traveled to Grand Valley State for the GVSU Open and came away with some solid individual performances. Sophomore Allison Lofgren competed in two events placing 11th in the long jump and 22nd in the 200 meters. Jennifer Reynolds, Kelsey Miller and Caitlin Dickerson all ran in the 200 meters and placed 24th, 28th and 29th respectively. Miller had a better showing in the 400 meters with a time of 1:13.63 which was good for ninth place. Liesle Travis and Kelly Griffin both ran the mile run and finished 17th and 18th. Lucie Smith ran well in the 800 meters with a time of 2:42.92 and claimed fifth place. Griffin also ran the 800 and was ninth with a time of 2:56.46. Reynolds competed in the high jump and cleared 4'11" which was good for 10th place. Dickerson threw the shot put a distance of 37'8" and came away with seventh place. Chris Calley started off the night on the right foot by placing second in the 55 meter dash just .01 off the first place time at 6.65. Senior Desmond Upshaw continued the momentum with a third place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 23.16. Kourtney Price ran the 400 meters and placed 11th with a time of 54.10. Sophomore Bob Palmer was 12th in the mile run with a time of 4:43.19. Chris Elsey raced to a fourth place finish in the 600 meters with a time of 1:25.82. Marcus Duncan claimed seventh in the high jump and cleared the bar at 6'0.75". Michael Arnett was in the top 10 in the shot put and weight throw. He threw the shot 42'2.75" and the weight a distance of 48'5.25". Jeff Boyce competed in the same events and was 10th in the shot and 12th in the weight throw. |
