ALMA, Mich. - The Bulldog track and field teams got their feet wet on day one of the MIAA Championships hosted by Alma College. Both teams are fifth with the bulk of the events scheduled for Friday. Jeff Boyce earned the highest finish for the men's team on Thursday with a fifth place finish in the shot put. His throw of 13.87 meters earned the team four points. Mike Arnett placed eighth in the same event and earned one point with a toss of 13.21 meters. Caitlin Dickerson placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 37.43 meters and earned three points for the ladies. David Hartford tied for sixth in the pole vault with a height of 3.92 meters and earned two points. Allison Lofgren qualified sixth in the 100 dash prelims with a time of 17.21 running in the first heat. Kourtney Price qualified fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 51.25. Chris Calley qualified fourth in the 100 dash with a time of 11.27. Ian Thornton and Desmond Upshaw each qualified seventh and ninth in the same event. Jay Yockey qualified fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.44. Chris Elsey qualified eighth in the same event. Bob Palmer qualified fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 58.50. Calley also has the best chance at an individual title in the 200 dash with a prelim time of 21.96. |
