Detroit Lions Head Coach Rod Marinelli to Headline Second Annual Adrian College Football Coaching Clinic



Adrian College will be hosting a football coaches clinic on March 21

March 4, 2008

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College Football program is proud to announce its lineup for this year's football coaching clinic scheduled for Friday, March 21st. Once again a superb list of speakers will convene on the campus of Adrian College in the Adrian-Tobias Room.

Kicking off the day's events at 2 p.m. will be Detroit Lions Head Coach, Rod Marinelli. Coach Marinelli will cover the topic of "Teaching Aspects of Coaching".

Coach Marinelli will be followed by Toledo Whitmer H.S. Head Coach, Joe Palka who will be discussing "Building A Program/Game Planning". Coach Palka has coached at the high school level as well as the college level spending time at EMU, Adrian College, and St. Joes.

After a short break the clinic will pick back up with Melvindale H.S. Head Coach, Phil Howard. Coach Howard has turned Melvindale into a play-off regular with his innovative spread offense. Coach Howard will be discussing "Vertical Pass Game".

Grand Valley State University's Defensive Coordinator, Matt Mitchell will continue the clinic with his topic "Defending the Spread". Coach Mitchell has been a part of two National Championship teams during his time at GVSU.

Lenawee County "Coach of the Year" and Adrian College alumnus, Jason Mensing Head Coach at Tecumseh H.S. will talk about "Developing a Basic System in the Double Wing".

Josh Buis, T/TE/Punt Team Coach at Eastern Michigan University will talk about their "Shield Punt", having achieved national rankings in statistics with this punt since its implementation.

Another former Adrian College Bulldog, Chris Kelbert who is the Head Coach at Livonia Franklin H.S. will discuss "Pass Game Out of the Wing T". Coach Kelbert has enjoyed recent play-off runs with his Wing "T" offense.

The 2008 clinic will conclude with its final speaker Jim Deere, Defensive Coordinator at Adrian College. Coach Deere will be explaining his "3-4 Defense". The "3-4" helped the Bulldog defense reach a final national ranking of sixth in Total Defense.
