WAYNESBURG, Pa. - It was a great success in game one for the women's lacrosse program as they outplayed Waynesburg in a 10-1 win. Mariana DiGiovanni notched four goals on 10 shots including two in each half for the Bulldogs. She scored the first goal in program history just 17 seconds into the game unassisted for a 1-0 lead. Waynesburg tied the game at 1-1 with 25:41 on the clock as Laurie Lindner scored her first goal. Adrian then scored nine straight goals to end the contest with four in the first half and six in the second half. Ashley Starkey scored twice for the Bulldogs. She made the score 3-1 at the 14:10 mark with an assist from Rachel Walters and then made the score 8-1 at the 18:30 mark of the second half with an assist from Sierra Roberts. Roberts scored on a free position shot at 24:33 in the second half and Michelle Sciog scored twice in the second half (26:51, 23:43) both unassisted for Adrian. The Bulldogs tallied 31 shots and held Waynesburg to 10 shots. Amanda Faraone made three saves earning the win in goal. The Bulldogs travel to Washington & Jefferson looking for back-to-back wins tomorrow. |
