Bulldogs drop tough decision to Whittier

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Adrian College women's lacrosse team had a tough time getting into the offensive groove on Friday as they fell to the Whittier College Poets by a 27-6 margin at Sewanee, Tennessee.

The Poet offense struck early and mounted a 5-1 lead before five minutes had elapsed from the game.

Andrea Soloko notched the first goal of the contest for the Bulldogs 2:53 into the first half. Mariana DiGiovanni scored at 18:58 to cut the Poet margin to 6-2, but the Bulldogs would not be able to get within four goals of Whittier again in the contest. Megan Bouwens notched her first goal of the game at 14:06, but the Poets closed out the first half on a 6-0 run to take the 17-3 lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, Bouwens scored two more goals and Mariana DiGiovanni scored a goal to round out the Adrian scoring. The Poet offense, however, picked up where they had left off at the half and outscored the Bulldogs by a 10-3 margin to take the 27-6 victory.

Amanda Faraone had ten saves in goal for the Bulldogs.

The Adrian College women's lacrosse team will look to regain their winning ways tomorrow morning when they face the Sewanee Tigers at 11:00 a.m. CT in Sewanee, Tennessee.
