Stats

SEWANEE, Tenn. - After fighting their way back into the game against Sewanee, the Adrian College women's lacrosse team fell to the Tigers by a 19-15 score on Saturday.

The Sewanee Tigers opened up the game on a 5-0 scoring run in the first ten minutes of game time to take a commanding early lead. The Bulldogs, however, responded over the rest of the opening half, outscoring the Tigers 8-4, including a 7-1 stretch over 6:49 of the period. The Tigers scored late in the half to take a 9-8 lead at the half.

The first half offense for Adrian was spread among five different players. Mariana DiGiovanni, Megan Bouwens, and Andrea Soloko each netted two first-half goals while Ashley Starkey and Rachel Walters both added a goal of their own.

The Tigers, however, opened up the second half in much of the same way as they had begun the game by going on a 5-0 run over the first 2:59 of the second half to take a 14-8 lead. The Bulldogs proved that they too can go on offensive scoring spurts by responding with a 5-1 scoring run of their own with Soloko, Bouwens, Starkey, and Walters each scoring goals again for the Adrian cause.

After trading a pair of goals from 11:52 to 4:07, the Tigers would be the ones to score late in the game to regain the lead again and take the 19-15 victory.

Megan Bouwens continued her strong offensive weekend for the Bulldogs by leading the team again in goals scored with four. Andrea Soloko, Ashley Starkey, and Mariana DiGiovanni all finished the game with three goals scored to help compliment Bouwens and the Bulldog offense.

The Adrian College women's lacrosse team (4-3) will take to the road for their fourth-straight contest away from the Adrian College Multisport Performance Stadium when they travel to the College of Wooster on Tuesday, April 8 for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
