#13 Emory takes two from Bulldogs

ATLANTA, Ga. - Krissy Sheets, Holly Lowe, and Meghan Stevens each scored in the first inning against the #13 Emory Eagles to give the Bulldogs an early 3-0 lead in Atlanta, Ga. on Thursday to fuel the upset bid.

The Bulldogs, however, were unable to plate any more runs while the Eagles took off, responding with six unanswered scores over the remainder of the game to take the 6-3 win. Sheets and Stevens each collected two hits in game one while Lindsay Mandeville was handed the tough loss.

Game two began as a tight contest with the score being 1-0 after three and a half innings. The Eagles, however, struck twice in the bottom half of the fourth and five times in the fifth to take the game 8-0 in five innings. Sheets and Stevens once again led the offense, garnering the only two hits for the Bulldogs in the game.

The Bulldogs will travel across the border from Georgia to Alabama on Friday to take on NAIA opponent Faulkner University for a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m.
