April 9, 2008 ADRIAN, Mich. - The women's tennis squad has been on a roll lately winners of three straight matches including an 8-1 win over Olivet on Wednesday. The Bulldogs continue to play well in doubles play which has given them a lot of momentum heading into singles play with a lead. Adrian went ahead 3-0 after doubles with the signature matchup coming at one doubles. Lindsey Eshelman and Katelyn Simcina needed a tiebreaker but eventually posted a 9-8 (8-6) win in a hotly contested match. Katie MacFarlan and Robyn Bahr cruised to an 8-1 win at two doubles over Celeste Gruber and Leanne Scudder. Leeann Brooks and Emily Brede also had a big win at three doubles with an 8-3 decision over Mindy Timm and Katie Griffes. Brooks was the first one off the court at four singles with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win over Griffes. Eshelman found herself down big in the first set at one singles and came back for a 7-5, 6-3 win over Jaclyn Mummaw. Bahr also came from behind dropping the first set before rallying in the next two sets (3-6, 6-3, 6-0). |
