Junior Trevor Hyatt is Alaska's nominee for the CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Hyatt Named To CCHA Team Of Scholar-Athletes

March 11, 2008

FAIRBANKS, AK - The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced that junior left wing Trevor Hyatt was named as one of eleven outstanding student-athletes designated as their team's 2007-08 Scholar-Athlete of the Year Tuesday.

The CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be chosen from among the group of nominees with the winner announced at the 2008 CCHA Awards, presented by RBC Financial Group on Thursday, March 20.

A civil engineering major at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the third-year Nanook has a perfect 4.00 out of 4.00 grade point average. Hyatt appeared in 23 games this season. Sunday night at the Qwest Center, Hyatt scored Alaska's only tally of the game in their eventual season ending triple-overtime 2-1 loss to the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks.

In addition to his relentless work ethic and dedication on the ice, the Anchorage native has duly applied himself in an unwavering fashion in the classroom: a quality that has not gone unnoticed by his coaches, professors and peers.

This season he was named one of 22 finalists for the Hockey Humanitarian Award. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi, the National Engineering Honor Society, Chi Epsilon, the National Civil Engineering Honor Society, the American Society of Civil Engineers, is a University of Alaska Scholar and a Chancellor's Gold Scholar. Last year he was named UAF's Sophomore Engineering Student of the Year.
