Siaca and Washington Stay Hot, A&M Falls at Jackson State

Manny Siaca

April 14, 2008

Game 1 - JSU 11, A&M 4
Game 2 - JSU 14, A&M 5
Game 3 - JSU 10, A&M 5
Game 4 - JSU 7, A&M 4

Jackson, Miss. - Manny Siaca batted .429 (6-14) and Turner Washington .417 (5-12), but it was not enough to get Alabama A&M a win in a four-game weekend series at Jackson State. The Tigers won Friday's doubleheader 11-4 and 14-5, and then followed with a sweep Saturday, 10-5 and 7-4.

Alabama A&M held leads in each of the games on Friday.

The Bulldogs led 4-2 before giving up nine straight runs in the opener. Siaca was 3-4 at the plate, and Kevin Collins took the loss.

Game two saw A&M open with three runs in the top of the first, only to have Jackson State score five in the bottom of the inning. Washington was 2-3, and A.J. Campbell took the loss.

The Bulldogs rallied in each of Saturday's games only to come up short.

After trailing 10-1 in game one, four straight Bulldog runs made in close in the end. Tyron Childress had three hits, and Mike Bonds got the loss on the mound.

JSU opened up a 7-0 lead in the finale before the Bulldogs rallied for four runs. Marcus Spencer homered, and Bernard McKinney took the loss in a complete game performance.
