UAB Travels To Take On Tulsa Thursday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's basketball team will round out its three-game road stretch by traveling to Tulsa, Okla. to take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in a Conference USA matchup Thursday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

UAB and Tulsa will be meeting for the fifth time on Thursday, with the Blazers holding a 3-1 advantage in the all-time series. UAB has won the past three meetings, including a 67-65 victory over the Golden Hurricane in the quarterfinals of the C-USA Tournament a season ago.

The Blazers are sitting in a tie with SMU for third place in the league at 7-3, while holding an overall record of 11-12. Most recently, UAB dropped a 77-64 contest at Southern Miss last Saturday.

Leading the way for UAB is senior guard/forward Diamond Rogers, who paces the Blazers in points, rebounds and assists. Rogers is leading the conference with 17.8 ppg overall and is second in league games with 18.7 ppg. She is also adding 8.6 rpg and 3.4 apg to her resume.

Senior guard Crystal McFadden is also making waves for UAB with 13.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg and 2.0 apg this season. McFadden, who is the Blazers' most experienced player with 94 career starts under her belt, has scored in double figures 15 times this year and has reached the 20-point pleateau on five occasions.

 

 

Tulsa has an overall record of 9-14 and is 5-5 in conference play. The Golden Hurricane has dropped their last three games, including a loss to Rice, 69-59, last Saturday.

Larissa Williams leads Tulsa on the floor, nearly averaging a double-double with 13.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. Chanel Johnson is putting up 10.7 ppg and grabbing 6.8 rpg while leading the Golden Hurricane in blocks with 66.
