Danielle Blair Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District IV Third Team
Nov. 6, 2007
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB women's soccer player Danielle Blair has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV women's soccer third team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The award marks the first such honor for the Scarborough, Ontario, Canada native. "We are very proud of Danielle," said UAB head coach Paul Harbin. "We are happy to see her honored in this way. She works extremely hard in the classroom and on the soccer field. She is very deserving of this award." Blair, a sophomore defender, has played in 31 games for the Green and Gold, earning a spot in the starting lineup in 25 of those contests. Along with being a vital part of the Blazers' defensive efforts over two seasons, she has also contributed one goal and one assist. The first goal of her collegiate career came against Rice a season ago, helping UAB to a 3-1 win over the Owls. In the classroom, Blair has maintained a perfect 4.0 and has been named to UAB's President's List every semester during her career. She also earned a spot on the Conference USA Honor Roll as a freshman, as well as the league's Academic Medal of Honor. "We have a great tradition of academic success with our women's soccer teams," said Harbin. "Our goal is to produce the best student-athletes possible that excel on the field and in the classroom."
