Sun Devil Divers Head to Zone E Championships

This Week:
The Sun Devil divers head to Oklahoma City this week to compete in the Zone E Championships. The competition begins Thursday March 13 and concludes on Saturday March 15. Last season, Micky Benedetti won the platform at the Zone E Championships. He also placed second in the one meter and third on the three meter to qualify for last year's NCAA Championships.

Making Sun Devil History:
Micky Benedetti became the first ASU diver to sweep all three diving events at the Pac-10 Championships. Benedetti defended his three-meter title with a score of 398.85 and jumped up two spots from the preliminaries to claim his first Pac-10 one meter championship with 366.20 points. The junior broke the school and Pac-10 platform record to win his second Pac-10 platform title with a score of 434.70. Benedetti's score was over 80 points higher than the next highest competitor.

Hobbs Notes:
Junior Erin Hobbs had her highest finish at the Pac-10 Championships as she placed second overall in the three meter. Hobbs scored 296.30 to jump up five spots from the preliminary round.

Jumer Jumps Up:
Brittany Jumer had a successful first Pac-10 Championship run. The freshman jumped up four spots from the preliminary rounds in the one meter to place fourth overall. Jumer also placed fifth on the platform and sixth on the three meter.

Solid Sweeney:
Junior Billy Sweeney had a solid sixth place finish on the three meter at the Pac-10 Championships. The Tempe, Ariz., native scored 362.10.
