No. 23 Gym Devils Hit Season-High Road Score at Missouri

Final Stats

The Arizona State women's gymnastics team earned their highest road score of the season with a 195.5 in a 195.625-195.5 loss to Missouri. Tiana Jean placed second in the all-around with a 39.050. Beaté Jones placed third with a 38.975 while Francesca Mercurio finished fifth with a 38.725.

The Sun Devils started off on bars, compiling a score of 48.775. Jean, who has hit every bar routine of the season, led the Sun Devils with a 9.825 to place second overall. Anchor Tia Orlando hit her routine to score a 9.775. Freshmen Mary Atkinson and Mercurio each tallied scores of 9.750. Jones scored a 9.675. The Tigers led after the first rotation 48.85-48.775.

The Sun Devils hit vault next, totaling 48.7 in the rotation. Ashlee Hinkle and Jones led the Devils with two strong scores of 9.85 to tie for second. Both Hinkle and Jones have been the consistent leaders on vault this season. Atkinson hit for a solid 9.775. Mercurio and Jean had vaults of 9.625 and 9.6 apiece. Missouri led after the rotation 97.8-97.475.

On floor, the Sun Devils earned a score of 48.775. Hinkle tied her career-high with a score of 9.875. Jones continued her solid night with a score of 9.825. Jean earned a 9.775 on floor while Brittany Schuett scored a 9.725. Mercurio and Orlando each had scores of 9.575. Mizzou led after the third rotation 146.775-146.250.

The Sun Devils shined on beam, performing their way to a season-high 49.25. Orlando won the apparatus with a career-best and team-high 9.925. Hinkle tied her career-high, set last season, with a 9.9. Jean had a strong beam routine with a 9.85. Kaitlynn Bormann, who has been solid on beam all season, earned a 9.8. Mercurio hit for a score of 9.775.
 

 

The Sun Devils head to the Pac-10 Championships, held in Seattle, Wash., on Saturday March 29.
