Men's Indoor Track & Field Most Outstanding Field Performer
Yudehwheh Gbaa - Rhode Island
Senior, Providence, R.I./Lincoln HS

Gbaa was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer after winning the triple jump with the Conference's top distance of the year with a jump of 15.45 meters (50-8 1/4) at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at the University of Rhode Island on Feb. 16...placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.85 meters (22-5 3/4).

Men's Indoor Track & Field Most Outstanding Track Performer
Sean Quigley - La Salle
Graduate Student, Braintree, Mass./Archbishop Williams HS

Quigley was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer at the A-10 Indoor Track and Field Championships after his blazing time of 13:52.66 in the 5,000-meter run broke the A-10 and Mackal Fieldhouse records by nearly 40 seconds (14:32.75)...ran the final leg of La Salle's distance medley relay, which placed first with a time 10:12.42.

Men's Indoor Track & Field Most Outstanding Rookie
Darius Law - Charlotte
Freshman, Raleigh, N.C./Southeast Raleigh HS

Law's time of 48.55 took the gold in the 400-meter run, the fasted time recorded in the Conference in 2008 at the Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 16...his time of 22.18 in the 200-meter dash was good for second en route to garnering the Most Outstanding Rookie award.

Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year
Bob Olesen - Charlotte
Olesen's 49ers took home both team titles at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships...Charlotte's 181 points marked the second-highest point total of any winning A-10 women's champion...fifth Conference championship in six opportunities since joining the Atlantic 10.

Women's Indoor Track & Field Most Outstanding Field Performer
Sarah Thornton - Rhode Island
Senior, Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties HS

Thornton was named Most Outstanding Field Performer at the A-10 Championships after taking gold in the weight throw with a Mackal Fieldhouse record-breaking toss of 18.87 meters (61-11)...placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 12.14 meters (39-10).

Women's Indoor Track & Field Most Outstanding Track Performers
Aja Jackson - Charlotte
Junior, Charlotte, N.C./E.E. Waddell HS

Jackson won both the mile run (4:51.62) and the 800-meter run (2:15.14), earning Most Outstanding Track Performer honors at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at the University of Rhode Island on Feb. 16.

Rachel Papin - La Salle
Graduate Student/Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's HS

Papin shattered the A-10 and Mackal Fieldhouse record in the 5000-meter run, clocking an NCAA-provisional qualifying time of 16:32.14 at the meet...ran final leg of winning distance medley relay team at 12:05.44.

Women's Indoor Track & Field Most Outstanding Rookie
Ebony Cunningham - Charlotte
Freshman, Raleigh, N.C./Southeast Raleigh HS

Cunningham was tabbed Most Outstanding Rookie after winning the 400-meter dash (56.99) and placing third in the 200-meter dash (25.28) at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Men's Tennis Performers of the Week
Mustafa Gencsoy - George Washington
Senior, Istanbul, Turkey/Avazaga Isik HS

Gencsoy went 3-0 over the weekend, playing from the No. 1 singles position with victories against Xavier (6-1, 3-6, 6-2) on Feb. 15, Dayton (6-4, 6-4) on Feb. 16 and Temple (6-1, 6-1) on Feb. 17...added two victories in No.1 doubles action with an 8-3 win over Dayton and an 8-5 win over Temple...improved overall singles record to 17-4, which includes a six-match winning streak.

Jeremy McClelland - Duquesne
Sophomore, Wheelling, W.Va./Wheeling Park HS

McClelland went 5-1 during the week, winning all three matches at No. 3 singles in matches against Youngstown State (6-2, 6-2), St. John's (3-6, 6-3, 6-3) and Manhattan (6-3, 6-2)...finished 2-1 in No. 3 doubles, with an 8-1 victory against Youngstown State and an 8-0 victory against Manhattan...improves to 15-6 in singles play and 14-7 in doubles this season.

Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Michael Anders - Charlotte
Freshman, Pensacola, Fla./Booker T. Washington HS

Anders won both matches this weekend, including a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win over previously-ranked College of Charleston on Feb. 15...picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win against No. 51 Elon on Feb. 1...won six of last seven matches in singles play.

Women's Tennis Performer of the Week
Dina Senkina - Temple
Junior, Moscow, Russia/#1071

Senkina won both singles matches of the weekend, downing her second flight opponent from Richmond by a score of 6-3, 6-3 and Old Dominion, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 (2-0) on Feb. 16...defeated Richmond, 8-1, and Old Dominion, 8-2 (2-0), in No. 2 doubles action...improved record to 7-3 in doubles and 5-2 in singles.

Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Candynce Boney - Massachusetts
Freshman, Las Vegas, Nev./Canyon Springs HS

Boney won both singles matches on the weekend, defeating Binghamton (6-0, 7-6) on Feb. 16 from the third flight and Cornell (6-3, 6-4, 6-2) from the second flight...picked up an 8-3 doubles victory against Cornell from the first flight on Feb. 16.

Softball Player of the Week
Jackie Yaniga - George Washington
Senior, Catcher/Outfielder, Miami, Fla./Southwest Miami HS

Yaniga earned all-tournament team honors after batting .563 with seven runs scored at the Carolina Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C. on Feb. 8-10... posted three multiple-hit games in five contests, including a perfect 3-for-3 performance versus NC Central on Feb. 10...posted nine hits and added five RBI on the weekend...threw a runner out in a steal attempt in her first appearance behind the plate.

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Brandice Balschmiter - Massachusetts
Junior, Pitcher, Newark, N.Y./Newark HS

Balschmiter owned a 0.33 ERA and a 2-1 record in the opening weekend of play at the FAU Kickoff Classic in Boca Raton on Feb. 8-10...gave up just three hits and struck out nine in a 1-0 loss to No. 12 Michigan...threw a complete game shutout in a 2-0 win over South Carolina giving up just four hits...struck out eight while surrendering just three hits in a win over Florida Atlantic.

Softball Rookie of the Week
Jocelyn Dearborn - Fordham
Freshman, Outfielder, New Milford, Pa./Blue Ridge HS

Dearborn hit .476 in her first action as a Ram at the Bulldog Round Robin in Starkville, Miss., on Feb. 15-17...collected at least one hit in all five games...drove in nine runs going 10-for-21at the plate...had four RBI and hit the game-tying two-run home run against No. 22 Mississippi State in the top of the seventh to force extra innings...was 3-for-5 in the first win over Wright State.
