Spring Sports Honor Roll - Mar. 17
Baseball Player of the Week
Billy Barber - Richmond
Freshman, DH, 6-5, 210 lbs.
Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge HS
Barber collected 12 hits in 24 at-bats with 16 RBI and nine runs scored over five contests...had six home runs and three doubles while collecting at least two hits in all five games...went 4-for-6 with a homer and three doubles on Mar. 16 in Richmond's 19-9 win at Charleston Southern...knocked in at least two runs in four of the Spiders' five games.
Baseball Pitchers of the Week
Danny Rosenbaum - Xavier
Sophomore, LHP, 6-1, 205 lbs.
Loveland, Ohio/Loveland HS
Rosenbaum tossed seven shutout innings and fanned a career-high 11 on Mar. 12 as Xavier blanked Youngstown State, 7-0...allowed just three hits and one walk and faced just 24 batters...marked his first victory of the season.
Scott Turmail - Saint Louis
Junior, RHP, 6-3, 190 lbs.
Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood Central HS
Turmail earns his second A-10 Pitcher of the Week award after earning a win and a save with 8.1 innings of shutout ball...came in with the bases loaded and recorded the final out on Mar. 12 as Saint Louis downed Fontbone, 6-2...scattered three hits and struck out seven for his third win of the season as the Billikens turned aside Dartmouth, 8-0...holding opponents to a .207 batting average.

Katie Miller - George Washington
Senior, First Base, Manteo, N.C./Manteo HS
Miller was a perfect 5-for-5 in two A-10 contests on the week...posted five hits, scored four runs and had four RBI in a 1-1 week versus A-10 foe La Salle...posted a home run in each contest and had a double in the 7-1 win over the Explorers on Mar. 13.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Bailey Sanders - Massachusetts
Sophomore, Pitcher, Durham, Conn./Miss Porter's Academy
Sanders threw her first career no-hitter as UMass downed Rutgers, 8-0, to close out play at the USF Under Armour Showcase on Mar. 16...closed out the game leaving two-runners stranded in the bottom of the seventh en route to her third win of the season...had two strikeouts on the afternoon.
Softball Rookie of the Week
Ali Shepherd - La Salle
Freshman, Shortstop, Philadelphia, Pa./Creative & Performing Arts HS
Shepherd posted five hits and four RBI in a 4-2 week for the Explorers...hit her second collegiate home run, a grand slam, in a 14-0 win over Maryland Eastern Shore on Mar. 16...added a triple, double and five runs scored on the week.
Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Whitney Richards - Temple
Senior, Midfielder, Southampton, Pa./Holy Cross HS
Richards led Temple to a 2-0 week, netting 11 goals and dishing one assist...in a 17-4 win at Saint Mary's on Mar. 11, she scored five goals on five shots, four of which came in the first half...followed that up with a six-goal, one-assist performance against UC Davis on Mar. 13...scored five of Temple's eight first half goals...leads the Owls with 18 goals in five games.
Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Liz Walker - Duquesne
Freshman, Goalkeeper, Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley HS
Walker earned her second collegiate win in Duquesne's 16-7 victory at Cincinnati on Mar. 16...had a game-high nine ground balls and ten saves in the victory...gave up just seven goals in the 60 minutes and posted a 58.8 save percentage...dropped GAA from 9.15 to 8.58...second straight Rookie of the Week honor.
Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Alex Mast - Duquesne
Junior, Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley HS
Mast added victories in No. 1 singles against opponents from Temple, 6-2, 7-5, on Mar. 14 and Saint Joseph's, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (8) on Mar. 15...from No. 2 doubles, defeated foes from Temple, 9-8 (5) and Saint Joseph's, 8-3...improved singles record to 13-14 on the season.
Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Mikhael Rasner - Duquesne
Freshman, Hudson, Ohio/Hudson HS
Rasner improved to 20-6 in singles play with a pair of wins over the weekend, beginning with a sixth-flight victory over his Temple opponent, 6-2,7-5, on Mar. 14...added second victory against Saint Joseph's, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (8) on Mar. 15...defeated both TU and SJU opponents from the first flight in doubles, winning 6-1, 6-1, and 6-3, 6-1, respectively.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Johanna Bezjak - Duquesne
Senior, Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett HS
Bezjak went 2-0 over the weekend, notching a 6-1, 6-1 win from No. 2 singles against St. Bonaventure on Mar. 14...picked up an 8-1 victory from No. 1 doubles...now has 18 combined wins for the season.
Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Zena Williams - Duquesne
Freshman, Bellaire, Texas/American School of Bangkok
Williams won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles against St. Bonaventure on Mar. 14...took a No. 2 doubles match, 8-3, improving season record to 7-3...leads A-10 in most singles wins this season with 20-2.
Men's Golf Player of the Week
Paul Amess - Temple
Junior, Stevenage, England/Knights Templar HS
Amess carded the sixth-best single round in Temple history, a five-under 67, to lead Temple to a second-place finish at the SIU Edwardsville Cougar Classic on March 14-15...Amess placed second with a two-under 142 (75-67) and recorded the best Owls' single round since 2004.
Jordan Utley - Richmond
Senior, Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin HS
Utley finished second out of 78 golfers at the Louisiana Classics on March 10-11 after carding a two-under 214 (69-71-74)...his second place finish was his third top-three finish of the year and his fifth-straight top-10 finish...eight of Utley's last 10 rounds have been at par or below.
Men's Golf Rookie of the Week
Sasha Bozic - Temple
Freshman, Beach Lake, Pa./Hondesdale HS
Bozic led the Owls after the first day at the SIU Edwardsville Cougar Classic on March 14 with a 71...finished with an eight-over 152 (71-81) to finish seventh in a field of 42.
