Baseball Player of the Week
Brad McElroy - Charlotte
Senior, CF, 5-11, 188 lbs.
St. Thomas, ONT/Saunders Secondary HS

McElroy collected at least two hits in each of Charlotte's three victories at La Salle (Mar. 28-30) to improve to 6-0 in A-10 play...batted .450 (9-for-20) with seven runs scored and five RBI on the week...added four walks and a pair of stolen bases...had three RBI in the 49ers' 12-8 win over Wake Forest on Mar. 26...leads the team in both doubles (ten) and runs scored (35).

Baseball Pitchers of the Week
Randy Mower - Saint Joseph's
Sophomore, LHP, 6-2, 175 lbs.
Hatfield, Pa./North Penn HS

Mower recorded the first complete-game shutout by a Saint Joseph's pitcher since the 2005 season as he allowed just three hits while fanning eight on Mar. 29 in the Hawks' 3-0 win versus Temple...faced just four batters over the minimum...marked his second complete game of the season...also tossed two scoreless innings against Delaware on Mar. 25.

Chris Pickering - Rhode Island
Freshman, LHP, 6-2, 200 lbs.
Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln HS

Pickering struck out nine and did not allow a hit until the leadoff batter in the top of the ninth as Rhode Island edged Marist on Mar. 26, 1-0...earned his second victory of the season...has 16 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched.

Baseball Rookies of the Week
Chris Pickering - Rhode Island
Freshman, LHP, 6-2, 200 lbs.
Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln HS

Pickering struck out nine and did not allow a hit until the leadoff batter in the top of the ninth as Rhode Island edged Marist on Mar. 26, 1-0...earned his second victory of the season...has 16 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched.

Corey Shaylor - Charlotte
Freshman, 2B, 5-8, 140 lbs.
Charlotte, N.C./Independence HS

Shaylor had three multi-hit performances and drove in seven runs over five contests on the week...his three-run single in the eighth inning on Mar. 30 proved to be the difference in Charlotte' 4-1 victory at La Salle...went 5-for-11 (.455) in the 49ers' three-game series at La Salle...has hit safely in six consecutive games.

Softball Player of the Week
Allison Storc - Fordham
Senior, Catcher, Boynton Beach, Fla./Santaluces HS

Storc led Fordham to a 4-0 week with 10 RBI and six hits...batted .400 on the week, including two home runs...hit a grand slam in the second-game win over Iona on March 28 and added a two-run blast in the second-game win over Saint Louis on March 30...first Player of the Week honor.

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Brandice Balschmiter - Massachusetts
Junior, Pitcher, Newark, N.Y./Newark HS

Balschmiter went 3-0 with a perfect 0.00 ERA while striking out 29 batters on the week...fanned a season-high 13 batters giving up just one-hit for her eighth shutout of the season in a 7-0 win over Dartmouth on Mar. 26...grabbed a win in a relief appearance going 5 1/3 innings while striking out seven in a three-hit, 7-5 win over Dartmouth in game two of the double-header...finished off the week giving up just four hits with nine strikeouts in a 7-1 win over second-place Charlotte on Mar. 30...dropped her overall ERA to 0.79 moving her record to 12-6 on the season, 3-0 in A-10 conference play...fourth Pitcher of the Week honor.

Softball Rookies of the Week
Kristin Nicoletti - Saint Louis
Freshman, Outfielder, St. Louis, Mo./Oakville HS

Nicoletti led the Billikens with a .500 average, a .667 slugging pct. and a .538 on-base pct. in SLU's four A-10 contests last week ...overall, hit a team-high .429 with a .571 slugging pct. and a .467 on-base pct...has posted a hit in five of the Bills' six A-10 games this season, including all four of SLU's games last weekend...first Rookie of the Week honor.

Beckah Wiggins - Fordham
Freshman, Pitcher, Conklin, N.Y/Susquehanna Valley HS

Wiggins held opponents to a .143 batting average in three appearances on the week...picked up the win in all three games, including both games of the Atlantic 10 doubleheader with Saint Louis on Mar. 30...posted a 1.08 ERA this weekend...allowed just one earned run and four hits in 8.1 innings of work...leads team with six wins...third Rookie of the Week honor.

Lacrosse Player of the Week
Allison Furstenburg - Richmond
Junior, Attack, Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon Central Region HS

Furstenburg led the Spiders offensively in a 2-0 week in A-10 play...recorded five goals in a 17-12 win over Massachusetts on Mar. 28 then put in another five goals at La Salle on March 30...also added three assists on the week for a total of 13 points in two contests...first Player of the Week honor.

Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Anne Ryan - Richmond
Freshman, Midfielder, Darien, Conn./Darien HS

Ryan notched an impressive seven goals on seven attempts this week in Richmond's first two A-10 games of the season...recorded a hat trick in a 17-12 win over Massachusetts on Mar. 28 and put in four goals at La Salle on Mar. 30.

Men's Tennis Players of the Week
Jeff Cote - Rhode Island
Sophomore, Warwick, R.I./Warwick Vets

Cote improved to 21-9 in singles play with wins over Fairfield (2-6, 6-0, 6-1) on Mar. 25, Fordham (6-0, 6-1) on Mar. 29 and Scared Heart (6-1, 6-1) on Mar. 30 from the second flight...from the first flight of doubles, Cote defeated opponents from Fordham (8-4) and Sacred Heart (8-4) to improve his record to 19-15 on the season.

Chris Herrlinger - Xavier
Sophomore, Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Country Day HS

Herrlinger went 3-1 for the week in both singles and doubles...after picking up a 6-3, 6-2 win from No. 1 singles slight against Northern Kentucky on Mar. 25, he suffered his lone singles loss in a three-set defeat at the hands of No. 32 Louisville's second flight opponent on Mar. 26, 7-6 (3), 1-6, 6-3...ended the week with a 6-4, 7-6(5) victory against Temple's No. 2 on Mar. 28 followed by a 6-4, 7-6 (5) win against Saint Joseph's on Mar. 29.

Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Enric Larregola - St. Bonaventure
Freshman, Lledia, Spain/IES Samuel Gili Gaya

Larregola was 2-0 in singles play, earning a victory against Army (6-3, 6-3) on Mar. 28 from the No. 5 slot...followed it with a Mar. 30th victory against sixth-flight opponent from No. 51 Penn State, 7-6 (3), 6-1...with the wins, Larregola ups his singles record to 5-5 this season.

Women's Tennis Players of the Week
Dominique Ligouri - Fordham
Junior, Hartsdale, N.Y./Ursuline School

Ligouri defeated the No. 1 singles opponent from Rhode Island (6-0, 6-2) on Mar. 29 and Stony Brook (6-3, 6-1) on Mar. 30 to improve her season record to an undefeated 9-0...won both doubles matches from the first flight, with an 8-5 victory against opponents from URI and 8-1 win against Stony Brook.

Rebecca Poole - Duquesne
Junior, Swindon, Wiltshire, U.K./New College (Swindon)

Poole went 3-0 at No. 3 singles and 3-0 at No. 2 doubles, beating opponents from Youngstown St. on Mar. 25, Dayton on Mar. 28 and Xavier on Mar. 29...went a combined 36-11 in her singles matches, winning all three in straight sets...defeated doubles opponents 24-8, with an 8-1 win against YSU and a pair of 8-5 victories against Dayton and Xavier...with the wins, Poole improves to 15-4 in singles play this season and 12-3 in doubles.

Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Zena Williams - Duquesne
Freshman, Bellaire, Texas/American School of Bangkok

Williams was 3-0 at No. 1 singles and 3-0 at No. 2 doubles after adding victories over Youngstown State (6-0, 6-1) on Mar. 25, Dayton (6-0, 6-1) on Mar. 28 and Xavier (6-2, 4-6, 6-2) on Mar. 29...went a combined 40-13 in her singles matches, losing only one of seven sets...finished a combined 24-8 at No. 2 doubles, with an 8-2 win against YSU, an 8-1 victory against Dayton and an 8-5 win against Xavier...improves to 24-2 in singles and 11-3 in doubles play this season...fourth straight A-10 Rookie of the Week honor.

Men's Golf Player of the Week
Corey Nagy - Charlotte
Sophomore, Charlotte, N.C./Vance HS

Nagy placed tied for eighth individually among some of the nation's top collegiate golfers at the U.S. Collegiate Championships on Mar. 24-26... the 15-team field included ten of the Golftstat's top 12 ranked teams and it marked Nagy's fourth top 15 finish of the season...shot even par or better in two of the three rounds and finished with a one-over, 217 (72-71-74)...only seven players broke par for the entire tournament.

Men's Golf Rookie of the Week
Brendan Barrack - George Washington
Freshman, Toronto, Canada/Crenshaw School (Fla.)

Barrack was the low Colonial with a two-round 149 (76-73) at the Adidas Hoosier Invitational...36 holes of the two-day event were played n Mar. 29 with an additional 18 holes scheduled from Mar. 30 before rain washed out the final round...Barrack's 75.9 stroke average is third-best on the team.

Men's Outdoor Track and Field Performers of the Week
Darius Law - Charlotte
Freshman, Raleigh, N.C./Southeast Raleigh HS

Law posted an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 46.79 in the 400-meter dash with a first-place run at the Raleigh Relays on Mar. 28-29...Law's time in the event leads the Conference by nearly two seconds.

Tom Slosky - Duquesne
Senior, Brackenridge, Pa./Highlands HS

Slosky finished first of 15 runners in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Raleigh Relays on Mar. 28-29...his NCAA Regional qualifying time of 8:51.57 is the fastest in the Conference for the 2008 season.

Men's Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Week
Darius Law - Charlotte
Freshman, Raleigh, N.C./Southeast Raleigh HS

Law posted an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 46.79 in the 400-meter dash with a first-place run at the Raleigh Relays on Mar. 28-29. Law's time in the event leads the Conference by nearly two seconds.

Women's Outdoor Track and Field Performer of the Week
Ysehaye Dagnachew - Charlotte
Senior, Jacksonville, N.C./Jacksonville HS

Dagnachew turned in an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 10:30.51 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Raleigh Relays on Mar. 29...now leads the Conference in the event by over 30 seconds.

Women's Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Week
Yvonna Hines - Charlotte
Freshman, Brown Summitt, N.C./Northeast Guilford HS

Hines placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54:97 at the Raleigh Relays on Mar. 28...moved into the Conference's top spot in the event and third on the all-time list at Charlotte...also ran the second leg of the 4x400-meter relay, good for second place and the Conference's top time this season.
