Defensive All-America Team

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior guard Stanley Burrell of Xavier, the 2007-08 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year, was one of 16 student-athletes recently named to the CollegeInsider.com Defensive All-America team.

Accepting his role as a defensive stopper while guarding the opposing team's top perimeter player, Burrell anchored a Xavier defense that leads the A-10 in field goal percentage defense (.410) and ranks second in scoring defense (63.4 ppg.). The Indianapolis, Ind., native recorded 28 steals and did not foul out of a game this season while averaging 32.2 minutes of action.

Xavier (30-7) claimed the Atlantic 10 regular season crown and advanced to the Elite Eight for the second time in program history. In addition, they became just the sixth team in league history to reach the 30-win milestone.

Rather then assembling first, second, third and fourth team squads, the Collegeinsider.com All-America team is one team consisting of 16 players. Division I coaches and NBA scouts are part of the selection process, but final decision rests with the Collegeinsider.com staff.
