CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers were awarded their fourth straight NCAA Tournament bid, Monday, when the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Tournament field was announced. Charlotte received an automatic bid to the tournament by virtue of their Atlantic 10 Championship.
The 49ers, ranked fifth in the nation by Golfstat, were seeded a program-best 2nd in the East Region. The 49ers will compete against a 27-team East Region field at Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tenn., May 15-17.
The 49ers opened their season at the Scenic City Invitational at Council Fire Golf Club. The 49ers won the event by six strokes by shooting 29-under-par. Sophomore Corey Nagy took first-place in the event, shooting a nine-under-par 204.
The top 10 teams in the three regional competitions will advance to the NCAA Championship, a 30-team event to be played May 28-31 on the Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee has selected the teams and individuals to participate in the 2008 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships.
The championships will be conducted May 28-31 on the Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Indiana. Purdue University is the host institution for this year's championships. Three 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 15-17. A total of 27 teams and six individuals not on selected teams were assigned to each regional site. Ten teams and two individuals not on advancing teams will move on from each regional to the championship finals.
