Jan. 31, 2008
Auburn, Ala.-- The Auburn equestrian team plays host to Texas A&M on Saturday at 1 p.m. Central at the Auburn Equestrian Center. Admission is free. The Tigers are 5-1 on the season with a dominating win against Delaware State last Saturday while Texas A&M is 5-1 with its only loss coming against Oklahoma State. "Texas A&M is one of the premiere teams in the country," said Auburn head coach Greg Williams. "They are very balanced with their Western team winning the national championship last year. Their Hunt Seat team is getting better which makes them a tough opponent." Riding for the Tigers in Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat are Katie Breedlove, Alexandra Loprete, Coburn Park, Jenny Reinhart and Rebecca Rifkin with Anna Schierholz on exhibition. Riding in Hunt Seat Equitation Over Fences are Jessica Braswell, Dorothy Grubb, Alexandra Loprete, Jenny Reinhart and Anna Schierholz with Mallory Kolpin on exhibition.
Riding for the Tigers in Western Horsemanship are Amy Bohan, Jessica
Jones, Kylie Miller, Ashley Milton and Kimberly Tidwell with Shannon
Hinton on exhibition. Riding in Reining are Ashton Fairey, Jewel Gibbes,
Lyndsey Jordan, Paige Monfore and Kimberly Tidwell.
"We need to continue to improve, especially in Horsemanship," said Williams. "If the girls are mentally prepared and feeling well, we feel like we can win. The home field advantage is nice, too." For additional information, contact: Wes McDougal at (334) 844-9800.
