Auburn Heads to University Park As the No. 2 Seed in the Northeast Regional

Indianapolis - - The Auburn University gymnastics team will be the number two seed at the Northeast Regional hosted by Penn State University in University Park, Pa., the NCAA announced Monday. The announcement marks the sixth consecutive year Thompson has led the Tigers to a Regional, and the third consecutive year the Tigers have visited the Northeast Regional. Monday's announcement marks the first time Auburn has been the number two seed at a Regional competition. "We are very excited to be the number two seed at the Northeast Regional," Auburn head coach Jeff Thompson said. "We are familiar with both Georgia and Denver and are excited to compete with them again. We hope to go in there and hit and be consistent and hopefully take our team to the next level." The Tigers, who are ranked as the No. 12 team in the nation this week, are the number two seed behind conference adversary Georgia. The University of Denver, who the Tigers defeated in the regular season, is the number three seed, followed by Penn State, Brigham Young and Iowa State. Auburn's rotation will begin on bars and proceed as follows; beam, bye, floor, vault, bye. Georgia will begin on a bye and then start on bars. Denver will begin on vault and Penn State will begin on beam. Brigham Young will begin on a bye and then start on floor. Iowa State will begin on floor. The Northeast Regional will be held April 12, in the Penn State Recreation Building. Competition will begin at 5 p.m., CT.
