Auburn Softball Earns NCAA Regional Berth; Tigers Travel To College Station, Texas

Auburn, Ala. - The Auburn softball will make its fifth NCAA Regional appearance when the Tigers take on Louisiana Tech Friday, May 16, in the first game of the College Station, Texas Regional.

Second-seed Auburn and third-seed Louisiana Tech open the regional at 3:30 p.m. CT. Host team and top seed Texas A&M will play fourth-seed Stephen F. Austin at 6:30 p.m. in the regional's second game.

"We are very excited about making the postseason and earning the chance to compete in the College Station Regional," Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. "Louisiana Tech is a good team and we will certainly have our work cut out for us. Going to play in NCAA Regionals is always one of our top goals as a program and right now we are very proud to have accomplished that again."

The Tigers enter the College Station Regional with a 37-20 overall record and a 13-14 mark in the Southeastern Conference. Auburn finished sixth overall in the SEC.

Auburn last earned an NCAA Regional bid in 2006. That season marked three straight trips to the NCAA postseason for the Tigers. The Tigers first NCAA Regional trip came in 2002.

Louisiana Tech earned the NCAA berth by winning the Western Athletic Conference Tournament championship. The Lady Techsters are 35-27 overall and defeated four ranked teams en route to the WAC Tournament title.
