Track and Field Opens With Solid Showing At Northeastern

BOSTON, Mass. - The Babson College track and field teams opened their 2008 season at the Husky Spring Open at Northeastern University on Saturday. The Beavers competed in a total of 11 events at the non-scoring meet.

Leading the women's team were first-year Larina Kleynerman and senior captain Claudia Schulz. Kleynerman placed fourth in the 200 meter dash and fifth in the 100, while Schulz finished eighth in the 5000 meter run and ninth in the 800. Also performing well for the ladies were first-year Nicole Crowley, who finished first out of three competitors in the 400 hurldes and took eighth in the 100 hurdles, and sophomore captain Katie Trant, who placed 10th in the high jump.

The men were led by junior Greg Keshian, who finished third in the 5000 meter run, and senior captain Dan Cowan, who took third in the 400 hurdles. First-year Jordan Bray also got off to a strong start, placing 14th overall in the 5000, as did sophomore William Dickson, who finished 14th in the javelin. Rookie Ryan Cornelius rounded out the list of Babson competitors, finishing 38th in the 1500.
