MEDFORD, Mass. - The Babson women's track and field team turned in a brilliant performance amid miserable conditions at the 2008 Snowflake Invitational at Tufts University on Saturday, as they overcame bitter cold and wind to place seventh out of 20 teams. The men also competed at Tufts, where they gutted out an 11th-place performance out of 19 squads.

Highlighting the day for the ladies was sophomore captain Lauren Blackburn, who qualified for the New England Division III Championships in both the 100 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles. In the 100H, she placed fifth overall with a time of 17.28 seconds, and she placed sixth in the 400H with a finish of 1:10.79.

First-year Larina Kleynerman also had a big day for the Babson women, finishing fifth in the 100 meter dash in 13.51 and sixth in the 200 meter dash in 28.54. Those times were the sixth and seventh fastest in Babson history, respectively. Meanwhile, senior captain Claudia Schulz was also busy, taking eighth in the mile in 5:05.41 - just 1.05 seconds off her own Babson record - and ninth in the 800 with a mark of 2:33.61. Schulz also joined Blackburn on the Beavers' 4x400 relay team, which placed fourth overall in 4:37.48.

First-year Alana Hogan rounded out Babson's impressive list of scorers with a seventh place finish in the discus thanks to a throw of 77 feet, six inches. Sophomore Katie Trant just missed scoring honors in the high jump, as she cleared four feet, seven inches to place 10th overall.

Junior Greg Keshian once again led the men's team with another stellar day, as he placed fourth overall in the 800 with a time of 2:05.11. He also led a strong trio of Babson performances in the mile, placing 10th in 4:19.01. First-year Andy O'Brien came in 31st in the event in 4:37.41, and classmate Jordan Bray followed in 38th with a solid time of 5:08.06.
