BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Eastern Connecticut State University baseball team scored nine runs in the third inning and never looked back as the visiting Warriors defeated host Babson College, 16-4, in a non-conference tilt at Govoni Field on Monday afternoon. With the win, ECSU improved to 12-9-1 on the year, while Babson slipped to 14-8. Twelve different players registered hits for the Warriors, led by first-year DH Andrew Dewing (Swampscott, Mass.), who finished 3-for-5 with two runs and one driven in. Senior CF Ismael Bolorin (Manchester, Conn.) added two hits, two runs, and two RBIs, while junior Tristan Hobbes (Utica, N.Y.), sophomore 3B Mike Palo (Brookfield, Conn.), and first-year catcher Chris Cannata (Southington, Conn.) also knocked in two runs apiece. Junior righthander James Kukucka (Vernon, Conn.) tossed six strong innings of one-run ball to earn the win, improving his record to 3-1 on the season. Senior co-captain Matt Delaney (Newton, Mass.) led Babson with two hits and an RBI in two at-bats, while sophomore CF Peter O'Toole (Salem, Mass.) and first-year pinch-hitter Eric Brown (Brewster, Mass.) also drove in runs for the Beavers. Brown and fellow rookie Jordan Weinrich (Harwich, Mass.) both recorded their first collegiate hits in the contest. Senior righthander Jeff Musante (Woodbridge, Conn.) started and took the loss for Babson, dropping his record to 1-2. Junior southpaw Mark Donnellan (Walpole, Mass.) and sophomore lefty Michael O'Brien (Shrewsbury, Mass.) were both solid out of the bullpen for the Beavers, combining to allow just two unearned runs over a five-inning stretch before ECSU plated five in the ninth.
