CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Babson College finished seventh overall at the 2008 NEWMAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at MIT on Sunday. Highlighting the third and final day of competition for the Beavers were sophomores Ted Plaisted and Aaron Paradis, who each recorded third-place finishes.

One day after posting an eighth-place finish in the 100 backstroke, Plaisted was even better in the 200 back, coming in third overall with a time of 1:58.33. Plaisted also had anchored the Beavers' 400 free relay team, as he teamed up with junior captain Philippe Noelting, first-year Sam Wear, and junior Thayer Glassock to finish sixth overall in 3:21.60.

Joining Plaisted with a top-three finish was classmate Paradis, who followed up Friday's third-place effort in the 1-meter diving event with another third-place showing off the 3-meter board. Last year's NEWMAC Diver of the Year was once again edged out by a pair of Springfield divers, despite a spectacular score of 504.85 in the finals. Paradis has already qualified for selection to the NCAA Division III Diving Championships multiple times this season, and will await word on whether he is selected to participate in the coming days.

Babson's other top individual performances included first-year Joel Bonina, who finished 14th in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:23.98, Glasscock, who placed 16th in the 200 fly in 2:08.81, and first-year Mikita Kourtchikov, who came in 19th in the 1650 free with a time of 21:53.13.

Five Babson swimmers competed in the 100 free, as Noelting placed 21st, Wear finished 30th, first-year Joe Dimuccio came in 31st, junior Jose Villamar placed 33rd, and first-year Pranav Kotwal finished 34th. Villamar, Kotwal, and Dimuccio also joined first-year Paul Rollinger in the 400 free relay, taking 13th overall.
