BABSON PARK, Mass. - First-year Jason Ringstad (Fairbanks, Alaska) snapped a 4-4 tie with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win at number four singles to lift the visiting Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team past host Babson College, 5-4, in an non-conference match at the Boston Sports Club on Sunday morning. With the win, the Ducks improved to 1-2, while Babson slipped to 1-5 with the loss. Babson led 2-1 after doubles play, thanks to an 8-6 win by sophomores Brian Lafayette (Burlington, Vt.) and Alex Kamergorodsky (Millis, Mass.) at number one and an 8-2 victory by sophomore Ken Lin (Cavendish Heights, Hong Kong) and first-year Austin Conti (Murray Hill, N.J.) at number three. However, Stevens Tech rallied by taking three of the first five completed singles matches, including straight-set wins by first-year Zhi Wei Ko (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) at number one and sophomore Piotr Rusinkiewicz (Califon, N.J.) at number three. First-year Jay Lee (San Diego, Calif.) added a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win at number five, while Babson's wins came from senior co-captain Ben Edick (Del Ray Beach, Fla.), 4-6, 6-2, (10-6), at number two and sophomore Edwin Lee (Mukilteo, Wash.), 4-6, 6-2, (10-7) at number six.
