Byrn, Cohen, D'Agostino Earn Softball Postseason Honors

 
 


Jess Byrn '08 was named All-Conference Second Team.

BABSON PARK, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its postseason awards, and three Babson players received honors. Senior Jess Byrn (Safety Harbor, Fla.) was named All-Conference Second Team while Byrn, senior captain Jess Cohen (Pittsford, N.Y.) and junior Kim D'Agostino (Woburn, Mass.) were all selected to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team.

Byrn had a stellar senior campaign, leading the team both on the mound and at the plate. Offensively, she led the Beavers with a .346 average while recording 44 hits, seven doubles, two triples, 22 runs, and 20 RBIs. She was second on the team with 12 multi-hit games, and she posted the team's longest hitting streak at 14. As a pitcher, she won a team-high 11 games with a 2.82 ERA, one save, and 122 strikeouts in 129 innings. She will graduate as the program's all-time leader with 357 strikeouts and four saves in her four-year career.

Cohen started all 41 games in her final season, hitting .260 with team highs of four triples, two home runs, and 25 RBIs. She also ranked second on the team with eight doubles, 25 runs scored, and a .427 slugging percentage. D'Agostino also had a solid season, batting .277 with 14 runs, 10 RBIs, and a team-high six sacrifices while playing an outstanding defensive center field.
