BOULDER, Colo. - The Baylor men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2008 Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships with the 10,000 meters on Friday night at Potts Field. This marks the first time that Colorado has hosted the Big 12 Championship since the formation of the league.

Lyndsy Bedell was the top finisher for Baylor in the women's 10,000 meters, finishing seventh with a time of 37:20.44 to earn All-Big 12 honors. The all-conference honor is Bedell's second this season and the eighth of her career. She also earned All-Big 12 honors in the indoor 5,000 meters.

Katie Shaw finished 12th in the event with a time of 38:02.15, while Jessi Barnes took 21st with a time of 39:09.93.

Jeff Sadler placed 21st in the men's 10,000 meters with a time of 34.29.60.
