Recap |  Box Score

Baylor head coach Steve Smith:

On tonight's game:

"We didn't get much going. (Kenn) Kasparek's always been a guy that's relied on a lot of deception; he's always throwing you a lot of fastballs. You don't see very many guys (that are) 6'8 on the mound. I'm sure he was very frustrating for the Texas coaches to watch because of all the balls and the walks, but from our perspective he was pretty effectively wild."

On the Baylor offense being held to four hits:

"I don't think there was ever any life in the bats. We didn't take a lot of good swings, he (Kasparek) was effective, and Slayton Thomas has got really, really good stuff, and he pitched and competed very well."

On Baylor's relief pitching:

"Randall (Linebaugh) threw really well, Mace (Thurman) threw well until he ran out of gas, and Reed (Woytek) just made a bad pitch with a base open. These guys with the metal bats have gotten pretty effective at hitting fastballs. If they're looking fastball, expecting fastball, and you throw a fastball in their swing plane, they're going to hit it."
