To a man lost in the desert, a drop of water tastes sweeter than a glass of Chateau Margaux.

To Art Briles, there's nothing quite as satisfying as winning a football game "when nobody expects you to."

That's his life work. The next challenge is always the best one. Sure, he won 167 games and four state championships as a high school head coach and led the University of Houston to four bowl games in five years.

But his trademark, his legacy, is rebuilding.

Instead of walking into ready-made situations where the blueprint for winning was already in place, the 52-year-old native West Texan has made a career of taking over downtrodden, seemingly hopeless programs and turning them into winners.

Which is why Briles now hangs his hat in Waco.
