AURORA, Colo. - Baylor University sophomore golfer Cody Paladino (Kensington, Conn.) advanced to the Round of 32 at the 83rd U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship Wednesday at the 7,551-yard, par 71 Murphy Creek Golf Course. Paladino, seeded 31st overall, will now face second-seeded Rickie Fowler of Oklahoma State Thursday at 9:12 a.m. (CT).

Paladino needed 21 holes to best Phillip Choi of Orlando, Fla. After paring the first two holes in regulation, Paladino went ahead by one hole and would later go up by as many as two when he birdied the par-4 9th hole. He then pared six of the next seven holes, but Choi birdied the par-4 16th to square the match. The pair halved the final two holes in regulation, sending the match to extra holes. After the pair halved the 1st and 2nd holes, Paladino won the match, "21 holes," after birdying the par-5 3rd hole to advance to the Round of 32.

The sophomore qualified for match play after shooting a one-over 72 on Monday and an even-par 71 on Tuesday to finish with a score of 143 during stroke play.

One of the Bears' newest additions for the upcoming 2008-09 season, Peter Fallon (Grapevine, Texas) was unable to advance to the round of 32 at the 83rd U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, falling to Illinois' Scott Langley 2 and 1. Fallon was up by as many as two holes, but the reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year pulled ahead on the 11th hole and held on for the win. Fallon, a two-time NJCAA All-American at McLennan Community College, shot a 1-under 70 on the first day of stroke play Monday and followed with a 3-over 74 on Tuesday.
